VAN STADEN, J., ZAŽÍMALOVÁ, Eva, GEORGE, E.F. Chapter 6: Plant Growth Regulators II: Cytokinins, their Analogues and Antagonists. In: GEORGE, E.F., HALL, M.A., DE KLERK, G.J., eds. Plant Propagation by Tissue Culture 3rd Edition. Dordrecht: Springer, 2008, S. 205-226. ISBN 978-1-4020-5004-6.
Cytokinins, together with auxins, control many aspects of plant development from the level of single cells and their compartments up to the level of the whole plant. Since they are involved in regulation of cell division and cell differentiation, they are especially important in in vitro plant propagation techniques. The chapter summarizes what is known about cytokinin metabolism, their signalling and mode of action, including the effects of cytokinins and their analogues and antagonists in cell, tissue and organ cultures.
